I’m trying out two new things here. First, I’m taking my first babysteps as crime writer. Secondly I’m having a go at a blog.

From now on, this is where I’m going to come whenever there’s something worth offloading, raving or occasionally ranting about in my writing life. It’s also going to be where I share my curiosity and enthusiasm for other websites, blogs and what have you. And from time to time I’m going to be offering up work in progress in the surefire knowledge that you will find ways to make it more exciting/plausible/interesting/sexy/sinister or whatever.

If you like it, feel free to pass it on. If you don't, feel equally free to tell me how to make it better. I'm all ears.

I sat behind a woman and man at a Seahawks professional football game (USA Washington State, Seattle). I don't think they're Inuit but when I read about Edie I can imagine what she looks like. My woman and her man were contained and weren't crazy noisemakers. They ate a nice plate of fried foods. And she would stand up when an important play was made. She wore a Seahawks shirt with a player's name on it. I had plenty of time to research who he was and discovered he's a deceased Samoan. The native American influence is huge up here and I love it. Migration across the Pacific is something I'd like to know more about. And someday I'd like to see the northern lights.

Reading your book at night to my husband (Italian) and our son (11 years old) is terrific. I already miss Edie and we still have 600 delicious pages to to. We've looked up what lemmings look like and there is still more to learn about.

Oh, also, thanks for being Leading Edge in permitting our library to provide us with your book in digital format. Stefano reads from the iPad and I from my iPhone.

I really admire your writing. I've read mystery books for 30 years and you are in my top five authors now.
